In our second EaganMatrix-related news story of the day (the first was about the new Haken Audio EaganMatrix Micro), we now have the Christophe Duquesne Loris Synth, a standalone application that expands the power of the Haken Audio EaganMatrix synth engine with resynthesis.

Loris Synth is not an instrument in and of itself but an analysis and resynthesis tool. Drop in a sample on your computer and Christoph Duquesne Loris Synth will analyze it and then extract all the necessary information to drive the EaganMatrix Additive Bank.

“It will provide a result heavily inspired from the initial sample that can be manipulated in an infinite number of ways,” explains Duquesne on the app page. “It is not sampling, and not intended to be imitative: its purpose is to open a brand new sonic world based on the initial samples.”

You may have heard that the Expressive E Osmose, which runs the EaganMatrix sound engine, was instrumental in the creation of the soundtrack for Dune 2. Hans Zimmer brought on members of the Expressive E team to help make the music, including Christophe Duquesne, who developed the Loris Synth specifically for the film.

Christophe Duquesne Loris Synth Price and Availability

Christophe Duquesne Loris Synth is currently only available for Apple computers and is available on the MacOS app store for $89.99. A Windows version is currently in the works.

Note that you must own an EaganMatrix-equipped instrument to use the Loris Synth, such as the Haken Audio Continuum, ContinuuMini, EaganMatrix Module, ContinuuMicro, EaganMatrix Micro, or Expressive E Osmose.

Additionally, the EaganMatrix needs the 10.44 firmware to be compliant with all the Loris Synth features. Osmose will not have this firmware before the “first trimester of 2025,” according to Duquesne, so Osmose users should hold off for now.
