The EFNOTE 3 Style A delivers a minimally different alternative to the EFNOTE 3 Style B. Can you spot the difference?
EFNOTE e-Drums are a superbly stylish and well-made brand, and their EFNOTE 3 kit is a very elegant kit at the low-to-mid range of their portfolio. Following on from their original release, the EFNOTE 3 Style A differs from the original ‘Style B’ kit in one singular way.
I’m not entirely sure of the motivation behind this addition to the range as the only difference is that the EFNOTE Style A kit has one crash cymbal, not two as seen in the Style B. As far as this correspondent can tell, that is the only difference.
The EFNOTE 3 Style A
Clocking in at a mere €100 less, the Style A is, to my eyes, identical in every way minus that crash. And quite frankly, if I’m going to spend €2,199.00 on a drum kit, I may as well spend that extra €100 for that second crash.
What you get for your money overall is a superbly featured and brilliantly well-built e-Drum kit with a 2-up, 1-down configuration, half-depth monocoque shells with EFNOTE’s unique side rim trigger on the snare. The kick is of a size that allows for double pedals as well as looking more substantial on-stage.
You still get the superb Tru-Motion hi-hat with its multi-optical sensor and excellent weight simulation and the small but mighty EFNOTE 3 sound module which features 16 preset kits, 34 user kit slots all using the 111 multi-layered stereo samples. On top of this, there’s 50 memory slots for user instruments.

The module also doubles up as an 8-out/2-in USB audio interface making it great for tracking with minimal cabling. There also tradition MIDI connectivity as well as Bluetooth MIDI and audio. The whole kit is mounted on EFNOTE’s very stylish Lambda tripod stands.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m perplexed by the need to have two different SKUs of a kit, where the only difference is the inclusion/exclusion of a single crash cymbal. I’m struggling to envisage anyone considering buying the A Style over the B Style to save €100 when you’re happy to be already spending €2,199. But, at the end of the day, the user has a choice!
