The anniversary celebrations for PRS are far from over! In addition to the SAS models, they are also introducing the all-new PRS Standard 24 Satin, which features new pickups, Phase III locking tuners, and four dashing finishes.

PRS Standard 24 Satin: Four Colors

PRS’ Standard series is one of its most popular ones, especially among those who are just getting started in the world of Paul Reed Smith. You get that PRS quality but don’t have to pay a premium price. What’s not to love?

With the new Standard 24 Satin models, PRS is introducing a model with a host of innovative features in four gorgeous colors. Frost Blue Metallic, Pearl Black, Pearl White, and Red Apple Metallic are all staggeringly eye-catching. For me, personally, Frost Blue Metallic or Pearl Black would be the first choice. I mean, look at these!

More Information

Mahogany solidbody, mahogany neck (Pattern thin profile), 10-inch radius rosewood fretboard – it’s a pretty solid situation in terms of woods. As usual, you get 24 frets, birds inlays, at a 25″ scale.

DMO Pickups

PRS is unleashing the new DMO pickup series for these Standard 24 Satin models. The manufacturer says that these new “Dynamic, Musical, Open”-sounding models deliver a modern, “wide-open” sound. Both the treble and the bass pickup allow for coil-splitting, which is… ahem.. pretty standard these days.

The five-way switch is the main control for that. With the switch down, you play just the treble humbucker, and conversely, with the switch up, you play just the bass humbucker. The other three positions allow for coil-splitting either pickup, with the middle position combining both humbuckers.

When it comes to hardware, this series also includes open-back Phase III locking tuners in satin black and the usual patented PRS tremolo bridge. Overall, these new models seem like a worthy update for the Standard series, which not only looks beautiful but also offers plenty of sonic versatility.

Price and availability

Both remain a mystery so far, but as soon as we know the details, we’ll let you know here!
