Black Box Analog Design HG-Q: High-end EQ and Saturation with Plugin Control
Versatile high-end saturation processing from a renowned boutique manufacturer.
With the Black Box Analog Design HG-Q, you get the best of tube and solid-state sonics for professional mixing and mastering workflows.
Black Box Analog Design has built a reputation for its high-end analogue tube designs, combining characterful circuitry inspired by classic gear with a modern sensibility that engineers and producers will love.
Black Box Analog Design HG-Q
The HG-Q provides six individual bands per channel, with stereo, dual-mono, mid-side, and mono operation, it gives you a wide scope of applications. The secret to the design of the HG-Q is that it uses tube saturation for the boost circuitry to introduce warmth and colour, while there are solid-state circuits in play when you cut.
This means that you have the perfect balance to perform creative and corrective tasks when tackling vocals, guitars, drums, and synths in your mixes. Meanwhile, the accompanying HG-Q plugin allows you to recall your exact settings which makes the unit also suitable for use in mastering workflows.
However, the plugin is more than just a control interface for the hardware. In fact, it’s a fully analogue-modelled software version of the HG-Q designed in collaboration with Brainworx, and it features a spectrum analyzer to give you visual feedback of the EQ processing taking place.
Overall, the HG-Q is an exciting and colourful processor for high-end users with a great balance of focussed controls and creative sonic potential. What’s more, the useful 2x mode is great for extending the boost range to dive right into the harmonics. Even if you only have the budget for the plugin, the HG-Q is still an impressive addition to your workflow.
Pricing and Availability:
The HG-Q is currently available for order from your favourite retailers priced at $5,999 MSRP, while you can get the plugin version from Plugin Boutique, at a reduced price of $88 (normal price: $242).
