Mooer MMT100 and MMT 100 FR: High Gain, Floyd Rose, Rock Hard
Beautiful colors, coil-split, and more!
While Mooer’s last few guitar releases, like the MSC10 Pro and the MSC20 Pro, were more vintage affairs, both in sound and looks, the MMT100 and MMT100 FR are much more modern guitars.
MMT100: Less Blues, More Gain
If you’re more on the metal side of guitar music, these new models from Mooer could be the thing. The MMT100 is futuristic, furiously loud, and frankly, a badass high-gain guitar. At least on paper. Both models, the MMT100 and MMT100 FR, come with a high-quality American alder body, roasted maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and 24 silver nickel frets.
And, if you’re the bend-y, hammer-y kind of player, who need absolute stability in tuning, the FR model includes a Floyd Rose bridge, namely the Floyd Rose FRTS5000 tremolo system, a locking nut, and MTN-3 tuning pegs. It’s not the easiest to re-string, but these bridges make accidental de-tuning much less likely. So bend it like Buckethead!
The 12-inch, bolt-on neck 8 (Standard C-shape neck with satin finish) houses a dual-action steel truss rod, and you get white shell dot inlays. Neat!
Crazy Colors and an HS Setup
The MMT 100 comes in three colors: Pearl Black, Pearl White, and Iron Grey. That black one, what mean, lean kind of guitar! And the grey one… I’d have to see it in person and look at it from different angles to get a better impression of the color, but it does have a vibe. I’m just not sure which one.
Compared to the three MMT 100 are pretty much the opposite: sparkly and colorful. Mooer calls them Aurora Purple, Aurora Green, and Aurora Pink. However, judging by the picture, I’m not 100 percent sure which one is the blue one. They’re all pretty, nonetheless.
Both models also come with an MMT-1B humbucker bridge pickup and an MMT-1N single-coil neck pickup. Plus, as it’s common these days, there is a dedicated switch for coil-splitting the humbucker between the controls for master volume and master tone. In addition, a three-way switch changes and combines the pickups for even more tonal variety.
How much do the MMT100 and MMT100 FR models cost?
So far, there is no word on the price of either model. However, judging by the prices of the MSC series, these prices will not break the bank.
