Lynx Mesa: A High-end Desktop Audio Interface
High-end conversion in a desktop-friendly format.
The Lynx Mesa is a compact audio interface with pristine analogue-to-digital conversion, pro connectivity, and standalone MicroSD recording.
Lynx is renowned for its high-end digital conversion systems for professional studios. So, it’s both unexpected and exciting to get something home-studio-friendly from this highly sought-after manufacturer.
Lynx Mesa
The Mesa brings together the impressive touchscreen interface from the Hilo 2 and the conversion technology from the Aurora(n). The minimalistic control panel covers all the basic functions, with dual headphone outputs and the Micro SD slot on the front.
The analogue input stage gives you four XLR combo inputs with two Hi-Z inputs for guitars. There is only a pair of TRS analogue outputs, but there are digital outputs too, so you can always connect another device to do more complex output routing.
Meanwhile, the Mesa’s digital connectivity includes ADAT optical I/O, S/PDIF coaxial I/O, and word clock I/O. This presents a great deal of potential, as you can use the Mesa as a standalone MicroSD recorder, a standalone AD/DA converter, or as a Thunderbolt 3 audio interface.
Having a conversion stage of this quality in an almost pocket-sized format is always going to be useful. Whether you use it in your home studio or live recording rig, the Mesa is a high-end interface with a design that is straightforward enough for anyone to get their head around.
