AKAI Professional and Native Instruments have announced their collaboration at NAMM 2025. Users of the current AKAI MPC series will have access to exclusive content from NI. And the AKAI MPK series controllers get an upgrade, too!

Owners of a current AKAI MPC are in for a treat: Today, Native Instruments releases three exclusive software instruments for the MPC, with more to follow.

The MPC Edition Play Series, which is exclusively available for the MPC, is designed to offer an accessible gateway into NI’s extensive software catalog. These instruments pair high-quality presetswith intuitive controls. At launch, the series comprises the instruments Analog DreamCloud Supply, and Nacht, with Homage and Sway following in February 2025.

In addition, AKAI Professional and Native Instruments have announced exclusive MPC ExpansionsFaded Reels and Hazy Days are available now; Lone ForestGlobal Shake, and Rare Vibrations will follow. All Expansions have been optimized for the MPC workflow and consist of one-shots, samples, tempo-synced loops, and customized effects chains. The MPC Edition Play Series and the new Expansions are available through the Native Instruments online store.

AKAI MPK Series Gets NKS Compatibility

Furthermore, AKAI Professional and Native Instruments have announced that NKS compatibility will be added to the AKAI MPK series keyboard controllers. This enables deeper and more intuitive control of NI Instruments like Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt, as well as numerous NKS-compatible third-party plugins. Thanks to pre-configured mappings, you no longer need to manually assign the controls. This feature is coming to the AKAI MPK Mini Mk3Mini PlayMini Plus, and MPK249.

Last, but not least, starting in late February 2025, all owners of a newly registered AKAI MPK-series keyboard controller will receive a custom version of Komplete 15 Select. The bundle includes software worth over $1000, such as Massive XBattery 4iZotope Nectar 4 Elements, and Ozone Elements.

    This a really an unexpected and welcome surprise. Interestingly I’ve been using ‘Kit Maker’ to create MPC packs from my NI expansions, but it’s a work around, and not a perfect solution. I’m also pleased, that the continued collaboration of developers, from whatever corner they come from, is helping to address e-waste and a flexible solutions for musicians. I think this is something we can all get behind and support. As a customer, it’s really important to me, that I have tools I can use, that aren’t just a novelty.
