Doug Aldrich should be familiar, but to those living under a rock, let’s take a look. With a long career in bands like Whitesnake, Dio and the all-star rock supergroup The Dead Daisies, Doug has long earned a place in the rock aeons.
He teamed with Blackstar a while ago and has been playing an HT Stage 100 with EL-34 tubes. After creating numerous signature products, he has now created his first amplifier, the DA100 Ruby, together with Blackstar.

The Blackstar DA100 Ruby has been specifically tuned to Doug’s wishes and tested on stages worldwide. The amp is designed to withstand even the most demanding conditions. In addition, Doug has been known to play modified amps for years, mostly old Marshall amps. He says the DA100 sounds exactly like the amps he’s always modified. Ready to rock!
At the heart of the DA100 Ruby beats one massive British-style tube fest. The amp comes equipped with 4x EL34s and 2x ECC83s to create that iconic rock’n’roll feel. You’ll get to choose between three voicings: clean, OD1, and OD2. All are switchable via footswitch. The effects loop is also foot switchable for added flexibility.
Infinite Shape Feature (ISF) – Your Sound, Your Rules
One of the most powerful features of the DA100 Ruby is Infinite Shape Feature (ISF), which Blackstar fans have long known fro other amp series. With this control, you can seamlessly dial in the sound from an “American” tone to a classic “British” sound and everything in between.
Another ingenious feature is the switchable power reduction circuit. This allows you to reduce the amplifier’s power to as little as 10% of its rated power, so you’ll get massive sound at neighbourhood-friendly levels.
It’s no surprise that the DA100 Ruby also comes with top-notch pro connectivity. You can connect it as a low-latency USB audio interface for your recordings, and there’s an XLR D.I. for live use. Extensive editing is possible with Blackstar’s CabRig software.
