DigiTech has announced the release of the MonoNeon Whammy pedal, a powerful and expressive pitch-shifting pedal designed in collaboration with renowned bassist and innovator MonoNeon.
MonoNeon Whammy
This innovative MonoNeon Whammy pedal builds upon DigiTech’s legendary Whammy technology, offering a wide range of pitch-shifting effects, including a groundbreaking “Hypersonic” mode that allows for extreme 3-octave pitch bends.
As it is a MonoNeon signature, it also comes in yellow, which matches his Fender signature Jazz Bass model that came out in 2022.
Signature Pitch-Shifting
The bright yellow Whammy features a variety of Whammy, Octaver, Harmony, and Detune effects to suit a wide range of playing styles. Classic and Chords Modes allow players to choose between classic Whammy behavior and a modern “Chords” mode for seamless pitch shifting of entire chords.
I’m unsure how useful the Hypersonic Mode will be as that 3-octave pitch bend for ‘mind-bending sonic explorations‘ may be too much for many players.
User-Friendly
Thankfully, the design is a classic Whammy pedal with a simple, user-friendly interface and dedicated controls for easy selection and adjustment of effects. It also has MIDI, so it should integrate into more complex setups.
Who is it for?
I would guess this Whammy is aimed at funky yellow sonic explorers or anyone who really must go 3-octaves up!
