Expect compact size with big performance from the new DTX6 range flagship, the DTX6K5-M, with dual-layer Remo mesh heads!

Launched at NAMM 2025, the new DTX6K5-M offers a great-sounding kit with eminently playable pads, housed around a compact frame that won’t take up all the room in your house but will still be great to play.

The Yamaha DTX6K5-M

All pads are multi-layer affairs made by Remo, one of, if not, the greatest names in drum heads, so you’re guaranteed some decent quality from the off. There’s a 10″ kick pad, big enough for single or double beater configurations.

The snare is a 12″, dual-zone unit with a rim sensor for rimshots and clicks. The three toms are all 10″ dual-zone pads, with the hi-hat being of the 13″ variety that comes with a very welcome hi-hat stand, not typically featured these days, so that’s nice!

Cymbals

You also get a decent set of cymbals, all triple-zoned for bow, edge and bell sounds as well as having a choke function. All pads are mounted on a sturdy, new RS6 tubular rack that conveniently leaves off the left side to accommodate the hi-hat stand.

DTX-PRO Module

The drum module is the DTX-PRO, which contains 40 kits derived from Yamaha’s superb sample libraries. Kits can be modified using the Kit Modifier which enables the user to impart their personal preferences on the preset kits using effects, compression and more.

The module can also be controlled via an iOS or Android device using a USB-C cable with Yamaha’s DTX Touch app installed.

Price and availability have yet to be announced, so watch this space. And if you’re lucky enough to be at NAMM, you can check them out at Yamaha’s stand.
