Rane One MKII Motorized DJ Controller: Stems! Effects! More!
Big DJ news! The Rane One MKII DJ controller is on its way with stems, internal effects, and a new color. Do you like it?
Rane One MKII Motorized DJ Controller
Not as many DJ product drops at NAMM these days but every once in a while you get something exciting. Like this, the Rane One MKII, the follow-up to the company’s popular motorized two-channel DJ controller.
Rane One MKII: Same Body, New Color
Rane One MKII keeps the best of the original One and adds a number of requested features.
In terms of what hasn’t changed, that would be the basic body size and weight. The jog wheels are also the same as the original, so if you’re used to those, you’ll have no trouble transitioning to the MKII. It still supports Serato as well.
What is new, however, is the color. Rane is calling it “premium white.” I personally am not a fan of white (white is for kitchen appliances) but it is a change from the usual all-black DJ gear.
Rane One MKII: Stems and Effects
As expected, the big new feature in Rane One MKII is stems. You can access stems in two different places, from the main pads below the wheel and from a secondary set of buttons above them. These secondary buttons also launch other modes. Stems functionality extends to pad modes as well, with two new ones, stem roll and stem effects. You can also adjust stems from the EQ pots.
Rane One MKII also has effects now (hallelujah), with 29 dynamic effects ported over from Rane’s Performer. You get six buttons for effects assignments. It also supports Serato software effects.
Rane One MKII: Other Changes
Other changes to the MKII include new faders, all with precision feel from the Performer, a MAG FOUR crossfader, and tension adjustment for all three faders. There’s also a dedicated sampler knob on the front, plus the latest DACs for improved overall sound quality.
Rane One MKII: Price & Availability
Rane is hoping to sell the new One MKII at the same price point as the original, $1299, although this may change. The company is shooting for a summer 2025 release.
