Summer NAMM 2017: Pigtronix Mothership 2 analogue synth pedal
Mothership 2 is a relaunch of Pigtronix’ analogue synthesizer pedal for guitar and bass. It’s got a reworked user interface and should have enough dirty synth tones onboard to keep you busy for ages. This purple pedal looks like a lot of fun!
Purple analogue
The Mothershuip 2 is all-analogue, so expect some filthy and lush synth tones to start emanating from your guitar rig (well, hopefully). It’s controlled by five custom-made dual-concentric pots and a pair of toggle switches. These allow you to tweak the main master volume, glide, fine-tune, dynamics and access the following waveforms: triangle wave, square wave, clean, sub-octave sine wave. You also get a three-way tuning switch with settings for unison, octave up. Intervals can be set to either a maj 3rd, 4th or a 5th.
The timbre/sweep dial and sync switch let you slave the triangle and square wave oscillators to the input signal!

CV Control
Then on top of all of this, there is also the provision for an optional expression pedal/CV input which can be used to modulate the VCO in parallel with the onboard controls.
Basically, I wouldn’t know where to start! There is so much going on with this pedal. I think I’d have to lock myself away with it for a month just to see what I could come up with, especially as there is some very handy external control available as well.
I think the Mothership 2 could be either a nightmare or amazing, depending on your outlook. For me, though, I think it could also be a lot of fun and with enough time I think I could make some really cool twisted synth tones with this purple monster. I love the livery!
