Tiptop Audio ART: New Polyphonic Modules Announced – OctoLFO and Multipass

[08 May 2025] The Tiptop Audio ART system is growing! At Superbooth 25, the manufacturer announced two new polyphonic Eurorack modules: an 8-voice LFO and an 8-voice multi-mode filter. Check out OctoLFO and Multipass!

Tiptop Audio ART: OctoLFO and Multipass
After releasing the first polyphonic Eurorack modules of the ART system back in February of this year, Tiptop Audio has announced two more at Superbooth. OctoLFO is an incredibly versatile 8-voice LFO, and Multipass is an equally powerful 8-voice multi-mode filter.
Tiptop Audio OctoLFO

Not surprisingly, OctoLFO contains eight LFOs. While you can use these for polyphonic modulation in an ART patch, they also function fully independently. In addition to the many included waveforms, you’ll be able to load your own. Thanks to a one-shot mode, the LFO waveshapes can also double as unique envelopes.
In addition to Polytip connectors for polyphonic ART signals (CV Ins, CV Outs, Gate Ins), the module offers good old minijack CV inputs and outputs for all eight LFOs, so you can use it in a standard Eurorack system, as well. The Polytip and minijack connectors can be used simultaneously, and you can assign the CV ins to various parameters. In addition, OctoLFO offers Reset and Clock inputs.
Tiptop Audio Multipass

Multipass is the second polyphonic filter module of the ART series. While Octopass was a low-pass filter, Multipass is an 8-voice multi-mode filter inspired by the Oberheim OB-X.
The lowpass, bandpass, and highpass modes can be used simultaneously, and each has its own Polytip output. In addition, there’s a Polytip Mix output. Moreover, Multipass offers Polytip CV inputs for Frequency and Resonance, as well as another Polytip input for Filter FM.
Price and Availability
Tiptop Audio plans to begin shipping the new modules soon. Expect a price of around $500-600 per module.

Tiptop Audio ART Polyphonic Modules: A New Era in Modular Synthesis
[28 February 2025] The first polyphonic modules of the Tiptop Audio ART system mark a paradigm shift in modular synthesis: For the first time, you can build fully polyphonic patches using just a handful of modules. The new Tiptop Audio ART modules are shipping now and you can order them today!
Tiptop Audio caused quite a stir when the manufacturer announced the ART system at Superbooth in 2023. The idea: by replacing traditional 1/8” patch cords with special “Polytip” cables that can carry polyphonic audio and CV signals over a single connection, ART allows for the creation of polyphonic modules.
Eurorack wasn’t designed for polyphony. Building a polyphonic system used to mean running multiple oscillator modules through multiple filters, controlled by multiple envelopes and VCAs – not to mention the hot mess of patch cords required to connect everything. For each additional voice, you had to invest in a whole new set of modules and the rack space to accommodate it. With the new polyphonic ART modules, you can set up a polyphonic system using just a handful of modules.
While the first ART-compatible modules came out about a year ago, it took Tiptop Audio a bit longer to release the polyphonic oscillator, filter, and envelope modules announced when the standard was unveiled. And now they’re here: the polyphonic era has arrived!
Tiptop Audio ART: Vortex6 and Octopass
For now, the Vortex6 oscillator module is the main sound source of the system. The six-voice wavetable oscillator uses 8-bit converters similar to those found in the PPG Wave. In the Detune and Sub modes, a second oscillator per voice is added. The module also has six ASR envelope generators for modulating the wavetable positions. Vortex6 can import user wavetables.
Octopass is an analog eight-voice filter module based on the classic 2044 chip. In addition to Polytip inputs and outputs for eight channels of audio, the module has two Polytip modulation inputs. There’s also a traditional mini jack input, which allows you to control the modulation intensities for the eight channels globally using a single external control source.
Tiptop Audio ART: Octostages and Octogain
Octostages is an analog eight-voice ADSR envelope generator based on the circuit design of the Oberheim OB-X. It offers Polytip gate inputs and envelope outputs, as well as Polytip CV inputs for velocity and attack. Moreover, the module has eight LEDs for visualizing the eight envelopes.
Octogain is an eight-voice VCA and mixer. In addition to Polytip connectivity, the module has minijack connectors for all eight VCAs, which allows for flexible integration into a traditional Eurorack setup.
Tiptop Audio ART: Octo I/O, Octovert, M
Octo I/O is a utility module that bridges the gap between Polytip and the traditional Eurorack environment. The module outputs the eight channels of a Polytip input via eight minijacks. In addition, Octo I/O includes a Polytip mult.
Octovert is a CV processor that can scale, invert, and offset polyphonic modulation signals controlled by external CV. And lastly, M is a five-way Polytip mult.

The Tiptop Audio ART Modular System has arrived!
[27 February 2024 / Stefan Wyeth] Tiptop Audio Art brings a versatile polyphonic signal format in a range of new synthesizer modules and complete Eurorack modular systems.
Unveiled at Superbooth 2023, it’s been a long and highly anticipated wait for this day.
Tiptop Audio ART
The ART system starts with the Octopus, an 18 HP interface module that converts MIDI from USB or DIN into three sets of eight outputs for ART channels, drum triggers, and velocity CV respectively.
The idea behind the ART signal format is to simplify connectivity between modular systems and other equipment such as computer sequencers, hardware MIDI sequencers, and keyboards.
With each ART channel, you can send polyphonic or monophonic note sequences and create multi-channel polyphony using an internal voice manager.
This is something new for modular systems, as it maintains low jitter and rock-solid timing. According to TipTop, there will be more ART control modules in the future, but this is the foundation of the new system.

Here’s a quick rundown of the modules in the new ART system:
- OCTOPUS – ART interface – 18 HP
- ATX 1 VCO – analogue saw VCO – 8 HP
- VORTEX – ART wavetable dual-oscillator module for building polyphonic patches – 8 HP
- V/OCT QUANTIZER – four-channel CV to ART converter – 8 HP
- CONTROL PATH – Envelope and VCA module – 8 HP
- POLYTIP – a new modular patch cable allowing the transfer of multiple audio signals
- VORTEX 6 – a six-voice wavetable module inspired by the PPG Wave 2.2 with an SD card slot – 20 HP
- OCTOPASS – an eight-voice 24 dB LPF module based on the 2044 filter – 20 HP
- OCTOSTAGES – an eight-voice analogue envelope module – 20 HP
- OCTOGAIN – an eight-voice polyphonic VCA and mixer – 12 HP
- OCTO I/O – POLYTIP I/O interface module – 6 HP
Pricing and availability:
The ART ATX 1 VCO, VORTEX, OCTOPUS, V/OCT QUANTIZER, and CONTROL PATH modules are now available from Thomann, and the S1 and S2 complete systems will follow soon.
Meanwhile, we look forward to the release of the VORTEX 6, OCTOPASS, OCTOSTAGES, OCTOGAIN, and OCTO I/O modules, as well as the POLYTIP cable.
