Moog Subsequent 25 Discontinued: It’s Time for Sad Goodbyes
All good things must come to end, and that’s now true for the Moog Subsequent 25, heading to the great gig in the sky after five years.
Moog Subsequent 25 Discontinued
After five years of faithful analog service, production on the Moog Subsequent 25 has come to an end, Moog announced today.
“Effective March 13th, 2025, we will be indefinitely suspending production of Subsequent 25 and offering the remaining available units through our global dealer network,” the company said on its home page.
Sub Phatty Friend
Originally released in 2020, the Moog Subsequent 25 was introduced as a more affordable Subsequent 37, which was itself an “evolution” (in Moog’s words) of the Sub Phatty, a 2013 monophonic synth that the company called at the time “the grittiest Moog synth ever.”

The Subsequent 25, like its 37-key sibling, is duophonic paraphonic with a particular emphasis on bass and leads. It’s got the classic Moog architecture and of course the famous Ladder filter.
Given its simplicity, it found favor with players in bands, particularly for its bass tones.
Moog Dedicated to Support
Although production is ending, Moog has stated that it is “dedicated to supporting all owners of the Subsequent 25 and will continue to provide repairs, maintenance, and parts to ensure your instrument operates at its best for years to come.”
The Subsequent 37 remains in production.
With the 25 ending its run, there will be a hole in Moog’s catalog. Do you think the company will be filling it with a new, performance-focused instrument? What would you like to see Moog add to its lineup? Let us know in the comments.
There are still some Moog Subsequent 25 units available at Thomann*.
