After 11 years of waiting, Xfer Records has finally released Serum 2! The legendary wavetable synthesizer has been completely redesigned and expanded with numerous new features. While the original is known for its clear sound quality, intuitive operation and flexible sound design, the new version takes the concept to an even higher level with new features. And that’s really impressive after the first version! In addition to an improved oscillator architecture and expanded effects routing options, Serum 2 now offers an arpeggiator and clip sequencer that greatly enhance the creative workflow. Serum 2: Wavetable Synthesizer Gets Major Update – And It’s Free for Existing Customers
The biggest new feature in Serum 2 is the Oscillator section, which now includes several new sound synthesis methods. In addition to the improved Wavetable Oscillator, which has become even more flexible with new warp modes, phase distortion and dual warp functions, there is now a multisample oscillator. This allows you to imitate realistic instruments with an extensive library of orchestral, piano and guitar samples in the open SFZ format.
There is also a powerful granular oscillator that breaks sounds down into individual fragments to create completely new soundscapes. The equally new Spectral Oscillator goes a step further, enabling real-time harmonic resynthesis that analyzes and redesigns samples down to their transient components. It just keeps getting better!

In addition to improved oscillators, Serum 2 features a redesigned effects section that allows for more flexible signal routing. This opens up a whole new world of sound design and complex modulation possibilities.

Pricing and Specifications
Xfer Records Serum 2 will be available at an introductory price of $189.00 instead of $249.00 until June 1, 2025. Updates are free for owners of the previous version. The plugin runs as VST3, AU and AAX in 64 bits on macOS (High Sierra or higher) and Windows (10 or higher). The plugin comes with a set of presets. A 15-minute demo version is available for evaluation.
