EFNOTE expand their X range with the new PRO 500X kit, launched at the Europe Drum Show, a compact but hugely playable and expressive e-Drum kit.
EFNOTE’s Pro range elevates some of their existing kits to a stage-ready specification, and with the launch of the PRO 500X, they’ve delivered a compact kit with a great deal of expression, as well as gig-centric connectivity.
The EFNOTE PRO 500X
Whilst the PRO 500X only has four drums, the cymbals have been expanded over the EFNOTE 5X with a focus on expression. You get their incredibly well-regarded triple-zone hi-hat plus a 16″ triple-zone crash, a 20″ triple-zone ride, a 17″ dual-zone effect cymbal, 18″ dual-zone china and a very cute 8″ dual-zone splash.
The snare has also grown into a 14″x5.5″ triple-zone affair for a more realistic and detailed feel. The kick is a 16″x12″ unit that supports a single 10″x7″ tom, with a 13″x13″ floor tom to the side. The kit is supplied with all the metalwork required to accommodate all of these, but you will have to supply your own kick pedal and hi-hat stand.
All the drum shells are made from 6-ply Birch and finished in what EFNOTE calls ‘Black Oak’, which offers a very classy finish with a fine stage presence. There are mesh heads all around.
The EFNOTE PRO Module and Stage Box
Module-wise, the unit comes with EFNOTE’s Pro module packed full of their excellent sounds and accessed in the main via a good-sized touch screen. One of the best things about the Pro range is the inclusion of the Stage Box.
Rather than have all the cables attached to a large module like their competitors, EFNOTE favour a smaller module with all connections handled in a floor-positioned unit connected via a single umbilical cord. This allows for more connectivity and much less bulk on the kit itself.
The Stage Box has all the connectivity you will need, including Bluetooth, USB and MIDI, as well as digital and balanced analogue audio outputs. It also features a built-in audio interface, dual headphones jacks and audio inputs.
The EFNOTE PRO module also features the latest firmware update that allows for user-uploaded samples with up to four dynamic layers to complement the already packed sounds, samples and presets that come with the unit out of the factory.
