Slate Raven Core: finally, a complete system for touchscreen mixing
Slate Media Technology announced Raven Core, the latest addition to the company’s line of touchscreen-based mixing consoles. Anyone familiar with the concept, pioneered by the original Raven console from 2012, knows that these products are far from merely hooking up two big touchscreens, placing them on a desk that looks good in the studio, and having your DAW basically mirrored from your computer screen.
Rather, Slate engineers custom control surface software for each of the popular DAWs, turning their mixing functionality into a convincing touchscreen experience that closely resembles working on an actual mixing console.
The Raven Core is positioned as the flagship product in the Raven series, presenting a complete production console system that comprises two touchscreens, a Slate Control Monitoring system, a studio desk in satin black finish with silver side panels, and the Raven control surface software.
The station can be configured with one or two screens, as well as one screen and four-rack space accessory panel (sold separately). Each model features a special cutout for the Slate Control analog monitoring controller on the right hand side. If you aren’t using the latter, it can be filled by a blank plate that comes included. Additionally, the desk has a hidden shelf for laptops, hubs, and hard drives, as well as cable-throughs for cable management.
Price and availability
While pricing still hasn’t been announced, we understand that European customers will be able to get their hands on the new Core system sometime in October/November 2017.
