Xirid XS2: a new hardware sequencer on the horizon!
Electronic music hardware is big once more and those with the cash to spare certainly have their choice of synthesizers, samplers, and sequencers. The resurgence of music machines never fails to inspire a bunch of clever people into coming up with more delightfully geeky hardware, designed to coax the strangest sounds out of. You have probably never heard of Xirid – that’s because these fellas are a brand new start-up, centered around a hardware MIDI sequencer of all things!
Called XS2, the unit is shrouded in mystery and will likely remain so until November, when it will receive a showcase at the SoundMit expo in Italy. The event will be held between November 3 -5 in Torino, concentrated on traditional and electronic instruments in addition to all things music production. We already have an idea of what the sequencer looks like, however. It’s a neat and simple-looking box with several knobs and buttons, reminiscent of Elektron‘s sparse designs. Although it cannot be clearly seen, there is a display on the unit, and a rather spacious one at that.
Clearly, there’s lots of potential in Xirid’s sequencer and we’d love to see, hear, and learn more ahead of its November showcase. Fans of gear like the Squarp Pyramid or Elektron’s Digitact are probably excited by this announcement just as we are! We’ll tell you more the moment we learn about it.
