NAMM 2018: Apogee shows off native DualPath FX rack plug-ins

Apogee is having a strong presence at this year’s NAMM conference. In addition to debuting its latest and greatest AD/DA converter with the new expansion card for the Symphony Mk II flagship interface, the pro audio company revealed its all-new DualPath FX Rack plug-ins. Designed for the Ensemble Thunderbolt and Element Series interfaces, the product is a combination of dynamics and EQ processors that run either natively in your DAW, or on board the interfaces’ hardware DSP.
The package includes a 7-band surgical EQ, a Pultec-style EQ for vintage vibes, a modern compressor, a vintage compressor, and a de-esser. For the first time, these run inside your DAW without having to have your Apogee hardware connected. The plug-ins boast a simple, intuitive design and greatly simplify the former workflow for the Ensemble and Element interfaces. Now you don’t need to switch between apps – just run them inside your DAW with complete functionality, including storing and recalling presets.
While the plug-ins themselves are nothing special in terms of design or functionality, they will be more than welcomed by Apogee users. The company will be releasing them as a free update for all current Ensemble Thunderbolt or Element series users and will be available as a free download with all new Ensemble and Element purchases. Note that you must own an Ensemble Thunderbolt, Element 24, Element 46 and Element 88 to be able to enjoy them.
