Yamaha announces new MG10XUF & MG12XUK compact mixers
Yamaha has a pair of new compact mixers on the line, the Yamaha MG10XUF and MG10XUK. They are based on the third-generation XU models of the company’s MG-series, but offer different controllers – the XUF has faders, and the XUK has encoders.
Yamaha MG10XUF
Technically identical to the MG10XU, the XUF has 10 channels and faders in place of knobs for level adjustment. According to Yamaha, the major advantage of faders is their position can be taken easy and fast even in poor visibility conditions. The console features the same Class A D-PRE mic preamps, the 1-button compressor, and an integrated digital FX processor with 24 SPX . Furthermore, there’s an integrated 24-bit/96kHz USB audio interface that works with both computers and compatible mobile devices (in class-compliant mode).
Yamaha MG12XUK
This model uses knobs instead of faders, not unlike the original MG12XU. This allows for a more compact design while preserving 12 channels of audio and other technical features identical to the MG10XUF.
Price and availability
Yamaha will start selling the new compact mixers in April, priced 298 EUR for the MG12XUF and 357 EUR for the MG12XUK. Prices include VAT. These are definitely nice compact mixers for the money! There’s lots of choice in this price range, particularly from Behringer and Mackie. But Yamaha’s contenders seem strong with plenty of value packed in – there are the channel counts, the compressors, the three-band parametric EQs, and the digital FX – all in a compact, yet sturdy format. We are impressed!
