Will Epiphone’s Jason Hook M-4 Explorer Signature knock you out?
Five Finger Death Punch guitarist gets new signature guitar
Epiphone has just announced the new M-4 Explorer Signature model for Jason Hook, a session player and guitarist for the band Five Finger Death Punch.
Five Finger Death Punch
Loaded with Seymour Duncan SH-1 Vintage ’59 and SH-4 JB humbuckers, this should be a solid rock guitar pretty rocking, but what really stands out in this signature model is the cool M-4 Sherman graphics that really pop on that red background.
Specification-wise, the guitar has a deeper than usual body cut which aims to aid upper fret access, making it easier to play up the ‘dusty end’ of the 12” radius Granadilla fretboard loaded with 22 jumbo frets. It also has a tasty Custom SlimTaper profile neck to aid fast playing styles and so should be perfect for riffage and solos.
It has a mahogany neck and body, so should sound pretty decent with those Seymour Duncan pickups and hardtail bridge. This is a classic, proven combination and so I would expect it to rock with the best of them.
Jason Hook
I think this new guitar will appeal to a lot of Jason’s fans or anyone looking for a cool, all-out rock guitar. It looks well thought out and I love the unique look of the guitar. Okay, not everyone will go for this design, but you have to admit it stands out from the crowd!
At the time of writing, there is no official price or release date, so make sure that you check out the Epiphone page link below for details.
Gibson/Epiphone what next?
Obviously, after the news yesterday about Epiphone’s parent company Gibson filing for bankruptcy, this new guitar is a welcome new model. No matter what you think about Gibson and all the nonsense going on there, you cannot deny that Epiphone has been making some great guitars the last few years.
Let us all hope that Gibson can all their financial woes and that Epiphone can carry on making cool signature models like this one.
RRP: TBC includes a gigbag and Certificate of Authenticity

Over here in the States, MSRP is $1499 and street price is $899 with a July delivery date.
The street price is pretty reasonable, as this guitar has a great specification.
