Mooer SilverEye: A hi-fi music player or a guitar amp?
Mooer has announced yet more new products, making its 2018 release schedule seem pretty crowded. Hardly a month goes by without some new piece of Mooer equipment seeing the light of day. Today, it’s a small hi-fi amp called SilverEye that lets you jam along with music. It comes with a power supply, Macro Power S12, with 12 outputs.
SilverEye
The SilverEye is a desktop amplifier for hi-fi audio. The front cover hides two 3″ speakers, each with 16 watts. This can receive audio via Bluetooth or the AUX-In. Three EQ presets are available, Live, DBB or Bypass.
You can also connect a guitar via the input jack. The available controls are volume, gain and a 3-band EQ. However, you cannot connect an external speaker cabinet, so you’ll have to make do with the built-in speakers. The case is made of a “wood alternative”, probably a composite material.
This is a cheaper alternative to something like the new Boss Katana Air desktop (which I demoed at the FX Fest this past weekend and is of a very high specification) or the slightly more expensive Blackstar Fly 3. so if you are on a budget this could be perfect for you.
RRP – EUR 129
Macro Power S12
Featuring 12 isolated outputs, the Macro Power S12 should feed you with enough power for bigger pedal boards. It produces a total of 3400 mA, distributed over the various outputs:
6x 9V with 200 mA
3x 9V with 300 mA
2x 9V with 600mA
1x 9-18V with 200 mA
It can be operated with 220-240V or 110-120V, so it’s good for touring overseas. Overvoltage protection is installed. The price includes 12 cables and a polarity reversal cable, cold plug and Velcro tape. We expect this unit will be with dealers in June for about 160 euros. Again, a fairly well-priced unit and with enough power options for even the most complex of pedal layouts.
