iZotope aims to make vocal mixing easier with new Nectar Elements
iZotope, Inc. has a brand new release out – Nectar Elements. Created for vocal production, NE supposedly suits both novices and experienced engineers looking to understand what makes a good vocal or save time. Nectar Elements comprises six audio processors – compression, de-essing, tonal EQ, subtractive EQ, pitch correction, and reverb.
You can adjust them as you see fit or use the machine learning-powered Vocal Assistant to analyse the vocal sound and have the optimal settings dialled in automatically. The Vocal Assistant can detect resonances, add compression and reverb, reduce sibilance, and adjust the vocal tone. You can also choose between so-called Vibes (Vintage, Modern, Dialogue) with their respective Intensity (Light, Moderate, Aggressive). The presets generated by the Vocal Assistant can be tweaked further with six sliders – Pitch, Clarity, De-ess, Dynamics, Tone, and Space.
iZotope has obviously built Nectar Elements as a time saver and a showcase for their innovative machine learning algorithms, also present in oZone 8 and Neutron 2. It’s impressive that such rather complex processing has been distilled down to a practical and straightforward user experience.
