Blue Cat Audio gives away its Free Amp plug-in, 3 amp sims that go up to 11
Classic Clean, Classic Drive and Modern Drive amps sims for free!
Blue Cat Audio has just announced its new Free Amp plug-in, a set of three guitar amplifier software simulations for your DAW that cost absolutely nothing.
Blue Cat Audio Free Amp Sim
Based around three different amp models created using Blue Cat Audio’s Destructor plug-in engine, the new Free Amp plug-in runs on your PC or Mac via a DAW like Logic X, Cubase or Reaper. It also supports MIDI control and automation.
Usefully, you can copy and paste plug-in information between instances. The plug-in also has Undo and Redo and a “no load” feature that means that your computer’s CPU isn’t being uses when audio isn’t being passed through it. Some handy features here, which is especially nice to see because Blue Cat Audio are literally giving this thing away.
Here at Gearnews, we love a freebie and will be testing this new suite of guitar amp simulations over the next few days.
Classic Clean, Classic Drive and Modern Drive
The three models on offer here are called Classic Clean, Classic Drive and Modern Drive. Each amp simulation has its own set of controls. They comes with a few basic presets to get you going. All the dials go up to 11 in true Spinal Tap fashion, so you can tweak them to your taste, or just start from scratch and make your own.
The plug-in comes in Mac-AAX, Mac-AU, Mac-VST, Mac-VST3, Win-AAX, Win-VST, Win-VST3, Win x64-AAX, Win x64-VST, Win x64-VST3 formats.
