Sennheiser to debut affordable IE 40 PRO in-ears in late September
Sennheiser has added a new entry-level model to its in-ear monitor line-up. The IE 40 PRO is to launch later this month, followed by the more elaborate and expensive IE 400 PRO and IE 500 PRO in 2019.
The IE 40 PRO has proprietary Sennheiser drivers, extremely low distortion (so says Senn, anyway), neodymium magnets and a peak sound pressure level of 115dB. Very good specs, overall.
The design notably incorporates a special, patent-pending cable ducting made for reducing the risk of the cable breaking. The cable connector is housed in the ear mould itself, with the intent of protecting it against any wear and tear which may occur with usage.
The IE 40’s ambient sound reduction is rated at up to 26dB, made possible by a selection of bundled silicone ear tips of three sizes alongside a memory foam ear tip which expands to fit the wearer’s ear canal.
Price & Availability
Sennheiser will be selling these from late September in black and transparent variants, bundled with the aforementioned ear tips, a soft storage pouch, and a cleaning tool. Looks like a nice package, overall, and the price is just USD 100. So artists on a budget will be able to afford a pair of Sennheiser in-ears for live shows. Sounds good to us!
