The Marshall CODE series of amps were announced last month at the NAMM Show. Now the Bletchley Park-based company are due to release this new series of amps in the next few weeks.
This particular digital modelling amp was designed in conjunction with Softube, who are no strangers to modelling real amplifiers, and especially Marshall ones. I’m gong to be going over the basic features of the new 100-Watt 2×12 combo version. The range also include a 100-Watt head and a few smaller versions of the combo at 25 and 50 Watts.
Marshall are trying to pack in a lot of features into this gig-sized combo amp, and are evidently aiming to provide good value for money. There are up to 100 presets available, which is a hell of a lot. I think I could use at most 4 or 5, so this feature would be no use to the likes of me. However 100 is a nice round number and should give you a lot of choice. Maybe it’s too much?
There are 14 preamp models based on classic Marshall amps and 4 power amp sections to choose from as well. This is more manageable and I prefer to have less doing more, rather than loads of variations with little difference between them. They are all then put through 8 different cabinet models that emulate a range of cab sizes and speaker characteristics.
You can choose between 25 different built-in effects and can use up to 5 at a time in any one of your patches. That should be more than enough for most players, I would imagine.
The CODE 100-Watt 2×12 combo includes the basic PEDL-91010 footswitch in the price. You can also control the amp via Bluetooth using the Marshall CODE App on your smartphone. There is also a USB port for connecting your computer, as well as an Aux input.

when is Marshall going to ship the code 100? I heard maybe in a few weeks. Mine has been on order since April 2016.
right
I pre-ordered one from Sweetwater, and then i was notified that the 100combo and 100head were going to be completely restructured regarding the powering units, or something like that..? So they plan on being ready to ship in early January in time for the Fall NAMM. Hope this helps
