Solar Guitars S1.6ET LTD Poplar Burl limited edition models
New poplar burl finishes
Solar Guitars has just introduced four new limited-edition models of its S1.6ET LTD design. For a limited time you can get these in Lime Burst Matte, Poplar Burst Matte, Solar Burst Matte and Blue Burst Matte finish.
Solar Guitars S1.6 and S1.6ET LTD Poplar Burl
Each guitar has a neck-through design with a sturdy five-ply maple/jatoba neck and a poplar burl veneer on top of a bound mahogany body. The guitars also have nice dark ebony fretboards with 24 super jumbo stainless steel frets as well as Luminlay side dots that glow in the dark. Handy when you’re on a dark stage.
Evertune
You can get these with either a Hipshot USA fixed bridge (S1.6) or the Evertune (S1.6ET) constant-tension bridges, paired with a set of Grover locking tuners. That should help keep your tuning rock solid. Combined with the neck-thru design, this should, in theory, make the sustain on these guitars pretty damn good.
All the guitars come with a pair of Duncan Solar Alnico V humbucking pickups based around Ola Englund’s favourite guitar tones. A five-way pickup blade and master Volume and Tone control give you plenty of options to dial in your preferred tones.
I like Ola Englund’s range of guitars and this new model has some nice touches. The option of two high quality fixed bridges is nice, as are the stainless steel frets and those Luminlay side dots. I think the brand is slowly growing in its variability. They look good aesthetically and I believe they represent good value for money.
This limited edition run has some attractive colour schemes, though they do remind me of some of the more recent Ibanez colour palettes. On paper, the specification of these models is great, though.
RRP – S1.6 EUR 999 & S1.6ET EUR 1199 inc deluxe gig bag
