NAMM 2019: IK Multimedia tease the AXE I/O guitar tone infused audio interface
IK Multimedia likes a good tease although they might have let the cat out of the bag with this one. I heard a rumour that IK had a couple of products to release around NAMM 2019, well a teaser video has just dropped entitled “Hi-end sound meets best-in-class guitar tone”. And at the end in crazy perspective it appears to say “AXE I/O” – sounds about right!
AXE I/O
We don’t know many details other than it’s being formally introduced on Thursday 17th January. It looks every bit like a 1U audio interface. There are line, mic and instrument inputs, LED monitoring, gain knobs, presets and monitoring sections. But the interesting bit is the “Z-TONE” section. It appears to have a knob that goes from Sharp to Bold and a pair of buttons that switch between Passive and Active, and JFET and Pure. That must be the guitar tone bit.

So it looks like an audio interface with built-in guitar tones – nice. Weird how Audient has just come out with something along these lines.
We’ve already heard about SampleTank 4 and the iKlip 3, I wonder what the last forthcoming product will be.
More information as we get it.
