Tsakalis Audio Works has a new pedal called the Six B.O.D. Its maker claims that it accurately replicates some pretty famous boutique pedals. It’s due to launch at NAMM 2019 – can Tsakalis’ bold claim for this pedal hold up?

Timmy, Bluesbreaker and KOT sounds

Yes, the Tsakalis Audio Works says its Six B.O.D. mimics the iconic Timmy, Bluesbreaker and King Of Tone pedals. Its six different modes include a booster, two overdrives and two distortions with the first overdrive routed to the second distortion. That all sounds pretty impressive anyway – even on paper this sounds like a flexible little unit.

Voltage Doubler

The pedal uses an internal voltage doubler, as well as a switch that enables users to choose between 9V and 18V You can run the Six B.O.D from a regular 9-Volt adapter. It is also true-bypass and so it should play well with most pedalboard setups.

Tsakalis claims that by using cap-less technology this pedal can achieve “a whole new level of touch sensitivity and overall musicality”. Bold claims, indeed, but at this price if it gets anywhere near the three pedals mentioned above it would be a bargain! Even if it does sound like those pedals, will it provide their feel and flexibility?

That, I think, is maybe where this pedal could fall down. We all need to head over to Booth 3453, Hall D to check it out during the NAMM Show at the end of this month. But for now you can watch the official demo video below for an idea of what it can do. The Six B.O.D. should be available post-NAMM via the company’s own website, so not a long wait to get your hands on one.

RRP – EUR 210
