NAMM 2019: Neunaber to present “hyper-realistic” Neuron guitar preamp pedal
A new compact preamp pedal with a ton of features
Neunaber Audio is about to launch what the company is calling a “hyper-realistic” guitar preamp pedal. Called the Neuron, it also has a speaker sim, compressor, noise gate, presets – and manages to fit MIDI onboard too!
Neunaber Neuron
Neunaber seems to have done its best to packs in the features here. It has a multi-stage, dynamic gain architecture and something called tilt EQ, which can adapt tone to different setups when you change presets. That last bit sounds handy as it can access up to 24 presets using an external MIDI controller. Without MIDI you can recall up to 6 presets via the pedal’s own footswitch, so enough for someone like me. But if you are a power user having 24 on tap might be rather handy.
Control
There’s plenty of other features packed in here, too, with an onboard compressor, noise gate and a output with speaker emulation as well. All that makes for a flexible preamp pedal that’s still compact.
Company founder, Brian Neunaber, said:
We studied the gain circuits of both tube and solid-state pedals and amps to learn, not only how they sound good, but why. We developed new and unique algorithms to test our findings, then refined these algorithms based on what we learned.
The short video demo below is from Neunaber’s Facebook page. It has a few juicy guitar tones that made me want to know more.
