NAMM 2019: MOK to stuff Waverazor fighting and screaming into a Eurorack module
Waverazor is one of my favourite software synthesizers. It has a bite and ferocity that you just don’t find anywhere else and it’s wrapped up in the most engaging of interfaces. Now, it seems, MOK has got together with 1010Music to bring the oscillators behind Waverazor into Eurorack – wow!
Waverazor Dual Oscillator Module
1010Music produce digital software driven touch-screen based Eurorack modules like Bitbox and Synthbox. They are little computers and so it makes sense that they could be used to run other software devices. According to Synthtopia who broke the story, MOK co-founder Taiho Yamada says:
“We’re thrilled to bring Waverazor’s unique sound into the hardware world, where you can warp every parameter by grabbing real knobs. Not only that, but you can harness all the power of your modular by patching into the Waverazor Dual Oscillator Module’s 22 CV inputs, external audio input, and MIDI mini jack for additional modulation from up to 20 continuous controllers.”
That sounds like quite a thing. There are two independent oscillators at play each designed to dynamically slice and recombine waveforms. The interface on the screen is touchable and is one of the great things about the original Waverazor synth. It looks brilliant and the front panel paint job is a vast improvement on the look 1010Music has been going for so far.

It will all come down to how this sounds in a Eurorack context and exactly how much fun all that modulation is. Looking forward to more information on this one.
