NAMM 2019: Lâg Guitars launch Tramontane HyVibe ‘smart’ acoustics
A progressive way to combine acoustic and modern day technology
Lâg Guitars new HyVibe system works in conjunction with an app that syncs with the guitar, opening up the possibilities of effects built into the Tramontane HyVibe ‘smart’ acoustics. However, they can also do a lot more!
Lâg Guitars HyVibe
These new Tramontane HyVibe series (THV) by French makers Lâg Guitars under the care of luthier Maurice Dupont and HyVibe were designed using a vibration control system developed by HyVibe. The HyVibe audio company has made a technology that can amplify your acoustic, add effects to it, loop and share your sound to a Bluetooth enabled device, such as an iPhone. The effects include currently reverb, chorus, echo, distortion and a pitch shifter, though Lâg is aiming to add more further down the line.
There’s an onboard control panel built into each acoustic guitar with a rotary knob, LED screen, fader and 8GB of flash storage.

THV Series
With three new models on offer for 2019 the THV10DCE, THV20DCE and the THV30DCE it looks and sounds like a really interesting advancement for the acoustic guitar world. I see on the website that they do left-handed versions as well, which is impressive as many companies skip them.

No in-built speaker, external wiring or amplification needed here
Starting with new THV10DCE the which has a Venetian cutaway, slim neck and brown wood fretboard, paired with a solid red cedar top and mahogany back/sides.
Then the new THV20DCE has a solid Engelmann spruce top, ovangkol back and sides and thin-profile neck
Finally, the THV30DCE has a Bearclaw spruce top, bocote body and slim-beck profile with Blackwood fretboard
Vibration Control System =Genius
The addition of a smartphone app that allows you to tweak, setup and expand your acoustic guitar is pure genius. The whole Vibration Control System is a wonderful way to expand an acoustic instrument.
I think these could be a lot of fun to play and tweak. I really hope that this range takes off, as I would love to hear how far it could evolve with future updates.
