I’m pretty much in love with the new Epiphone Jared James Nichols Old Glory signature model Les Paul Custom. So I apologise for my gushing fanboy report on this one. But hell, it looks good! Epiphone has now officially released this model and put the details up on their main site for all to see. So what’s the story?
Loaded with a single Seymour Duncan P90, this black Custom guitar has a mean, stripped-back look. It reminds me of a Rat Rod style custom guitar, but with plenty of ‘Blues Power’ attitude.

Jared says of his new axe: “I’ve been playing the prototype of ‘Old Glory’ on stage since the day I got it. Ever since Joe Perry loaned me 50s Les Paul Custom with a single pickup, I knew I needed one of my own. This is an incredible guitar. I can’t put it down. I’m so honoured and grateful. Hardware-wise, the Les Paul Custom has Grover Rotomatic tuners to keep everything nicely in tune and a wraparound ‘Lightning bar’ bridge, which will help to intonate the guitar.
This model is based upon a classic vintage ’50s-style Les Paul Custom body that is made from weight-relieved mahogany and a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard. It is all finished in black with classic white binding and block inlays, though the inlays above the 15th fret are missing…
Jared’s signature features on the rear of the headstock and his ‘Old Glory’ plate behind the wraparound bridge, to help distinguish it as his signature model. This is one sweet-looking Les Paul and I have a feeling, I will be buying one myself…
