Solar Guitars finally reveals that 8-String! Enter the new A1.8C
Solar's first eight-string, the Evertune-equipped A1.8C behemoth is unleashed
The new Solar Guitars A1.8C was teased back during Winter NAMM – and now it is finally here. This 27″ scale length behemoth looks killer in its jet black finish. This thing could probably crush skulls at twenty paces.
Solar Guitars A1.8C
Ola Englund’s relentless release schedule for his Solar Guitars brand is sometimes be bewildering, it’s that packed with new releases. The new Solar Guitars A1.8C though, stands out from the crowd, as it the company’s first ever 8-string model. This looks like it could make a big splash in the super-heavy range category.
Yes, you get a 27″ scale length and 24 stainless steel frets on a huge ebony fretboard. If you can play it, then the A1.8C will hand out the riffs with ease. The note range here is pretty massive.
Crushing riff machine
I’m no 8-string player, but I can appreciate a good guitar when I see one. The Evertune bridge and 18:1 Solar locking tuners should be able to keep everything tight and in tune. Go hard or go home.
You also get Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots to make it easy to see where you are playing if you’re on a dark stage. The pickups are a set of Solar Duncans in both the neck and bridge position, wired via a single Volume and Tone control and a 5-way blade switch.
The guitar is finished in Carbon Black Matte and just screams ‘CRUSHING RIFF MACHINE’. I dare you to pull one of these out at your local blues jam down the pub! I’ll come out and say it: I love Ola’s guitars. He doesn’t fuck around and gives players good guitars for reasonable prices. Up to now, every Solar guitar I have played has been killer and so I have high hopes for this new 8-String beast.
