Third time lucky! Version three of Mattoverse’s synth effect pedal has what the first two versions have so painfully missed.

While it looks like an effect for guitar, it’s something different to your regular pedals. In fact, it doesn’t change the input signal at all. The Drone Tone MK III is a synthesiser with a square wave. So it generates a sound which is then added to the signal.
Like before, only better
Everything is controlled by the controls Pitch, Tone, Mix and Rate. Most of these should be self-explanatory. The Rate control is an LFO that works in conjunction with the new Tap Tempo footswitch to control the speed of the synth sound. In addition, the Drone Tone MK III can now be remotely controlled externally via the rate sync input via CV (control voltage).

Synth Sounds
Adding a constant synth drone tone to your guitar might sound like a strange idea. But in practice it has lots of creative uses, like thickening your guitar parts by providing a simple accompaniment, especially if you play in a three-piece band. Or maybe you’re just looking for inspiration when writing new songs in the studio. Synth tones give you a different texture to explore, so I think this new updated version should be a lot of fun for guitarists to use.
