Softube releases Chandler Limited Curve Bender as a native plug-in
The Softube Chandler Limited Curve Bender EQ is now available in native format. That means that you no longer need UAD hardware to run this renowned mastering equalizer. The plug-in is based on console circuits from Abbey Road Studios, which have been used on many legendary records.
Softube Chandler Limited Curve Bender
The Softube Chandler Limited Curve Bender was previously only available on the UAD platform. By opening it up to everyone, Softube is doing the same thing as some other developers like Brainworx, who recently released the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor in native format, with more to come. That’s great news if you don’t own UAD hardware, as you can now use these high-end plug-ins natively.
Additional bands and filter points
The plug-in models the original’s germanium and inductor circuits at the component level. However, Softube didn’t stop there and added quite a bit of functionality compared to the original. The plug-in adds two additional bands, for a total of four. There are also many more fixed filter points, 51 in total, and more Q and gain options. Furthermore, the plug-in features low and high pass filters, which the original didn’t have. Other additions include mid/side processing and channel linking.
While it is most famous as a mastering EQ, Softube says that the Chandler Limited Curve Bender also works well on instrument groups and even individual signals. The company claims that it’s a “set-it-and-forget-it” processor, which always sounds good. They also say that the EQ curves have been carefully designed to allow for confident boosting. The plug-in includes presets by several famous engineers, including Joe Chicarelli, Tony Maserati, Howard Willing, Kevin Kadish, and Maor Appelbaum.
Price and compatibility
The Chandler Limited Curve Bender is now available for macOS (10.12 and up) and Windows (7 and up, 64 bit). It comes in VST, VST3, AU and AAX formats. Until October 4, 2019, Softube has an introductory offer at USD 199. After that, the price will increase to USD 299. You can download a fully functional demo after creating an account at the Softube website.
