Mattoverse Electronics TremStortion – Analogue tremolo meets distortion
A complex analogue tremolo with added optional distortion.
The new Mattoverse Electronics TremStortion combines an analog optical tremolo with distortion, so it is capable of producing anything from pristine clean to fully distorted tremolo tones.

The new Mattoverse Electronics TremStortion has a standard level control and then the analogue optical tremolo circuitry provides you eight different waveform options including – ramp up, ramp down, square, triangle, sine, sweep, random pulse and random slopes.
Then the Depth control manages the intensity of the effect and the frequency is controlled by either the Rate knob, or by a tap-tempo footswitch. Then there is the 0-5v rate sync input, which will overrides the Rate and tap tempo controls, if you want to control it externally.
When you then factor in there is also a distortion you can run it all through, controlled via the Output and Gain controls, this makes it a nice twisted little analogue tremolo effect.

Mystery…
You can then use the a three-way toggle switch for positioning the tremelo effect to either pre- or post-gain. The middle position puts it into an “inverted” position, which gives you what Mattoverse describes as the ‘mystery’ mode on their site. Sounds interesting, but I’m not sure I know what that means?
My advice, would be to listen to their official audio demo and see what you think. On paper, it sounds like a really interesting effect. I like both analogue tremolo and dirt box effects, so it combines two effects I already enjoy using. But your mileage may vary.
