Balaguer Guitars Hyperion Standard – Updated and refined offsets
Newly updated and now with a T-style option for the first time
The new Balaguer Guitars re-imagined Hyperion model now includes the new Hyperion T Standard version. The Hyperion models have been updated and refined for 2019.
Balaguer Guitars Hyperion Standard
The newly revamped and updated Balaguer Guitars Hyperion models are offset style guitars with hard tails. To my eye their ‘offset ‘design barely scrapes into what I would usually call an offset waist guitar body, but they describe them as being offset, so I will just run with that.
The newly added Hyperion T Standard has a T-Style pickup layout, that uses an Austral single-coil in the bridge and an Evergreen humbucker in the neck position. Whereas the Hyperion Standard edition is a dual Evergreen neck and Feral bridge humbucker setup.
Both guitars have a mahogany body and a set mahogany 25.5″ scale length neck. They both feature a bound ebony fretboard loaded with 22 medium jumbo frets. You also get Graphtech nuts on both guitars, and a Wilkinson bridge on the T version, so some nice hardware.
2019 Updates
For 2019 they have for sculpted the heel and the cutaway to give a more ergonomic feel with better upper fret access. Then they have made the body slightly thicker and changed the headstock to a reverse 6-inline,which gives a straight string pull. Finally they have changed pickguard shape, which is more of a cosmetic update, but it sits nicely in the overall design.
Pre -Order and Quality Control
Each guitar is available for pre-order from Balaguer Guitars as of now, but be prepared to wait a while to get your guitar,. As the build time is currently quoted as 5-6 months. However, in them US the pricing is really competitive at $799.00 – $849.00 each. They aren’t built in the US, but each guitar goes through a quality control check in Pennsylvania before shipping to the customer.
With all this in mind, be prepared to wait if you really want one. You can however check out both models in the video below and if you do want order one, then you can follow my link to pre-order one direct from the company site.
