The new Fender Rarities Maple Top Telecaster gives the classic ’50s “working musicians” guitar a fancy new look.

Fender’s Rarities Maple Top Telecaster comes outfitted with a highly figured quilt maple top, finished in Blue Cloud, complete with black binding to make the top really pop! It’s been fitted with a one-piece, quarter-sawn European maple neck with a ’60s C neck profile and 9.5”-radius fingerboard.
The hardware includes an American Original Tele bridge with the classic setup of three brass saddles. Expect an authentic Tele twang with this one. Now add in the Pure Vintage ’64 Telecaster bridge and Custom Shop ’51 Nocaster neck pickups and this guitar really should sound like a vintage-style Telecaster.

Not the cheapest
Even though it has a more upmarket quilted top, this guitar should hold its own against more traditional Telecaster models. It isn’t exactly cheap, but it does stand out from the crowd. So if you want something a little special, you should maybe go check one out.
The new Rarities Maple Top Telecaster is available now from Fender dealers. If you want to hear it in action, check out the official demo video below. I love a good Telecaster and this model could be a Tele tone classic. Now, I’m the world’s biggest fan of quilt tops. However this muted blue paired with the black binding gives it a sort of worn-in denim feel to it, which suits the aesthetic pretty well. It is a nitro finish, so it should age gracefully, as well.
This looks to be a good-looking American-made Telecaster – hopefully the street price will be a bit more reasonable.
