AAS releases Ultra Analog VA-3 two-voice virtual analog synthesizer
Applied Acoustic Systems has updated their virtual analog synthesizer to Ultra Analog VA-3 by both streamlining and doubling the power.
Ultra Analog VA-3
Straight off the bat the new Home View looks fabulous. All the complexity has been stripped away leaving a great looking rendered image and a handful of macros mapped to key sound characteristics of modulation, timbre, envelope and effects. You can then step through and tweak sounds without having to dive headfirst into the comprehensive editing. With that comes a load of extra presets from a bunch of really cool synth-type people that can be pondered on via the much-improved browser page.
Behind the scenes VA-3 now has two layers of independent timbres, stacked or split for performance-friendly textures. These can be addressed separately for proper two-part multitimbrality. The filter has been improved and they’ve added a Ladder mode. They’ve also expanded the effects engine to offer reverb, EQ, compression, tremolo and guitar amps.
