Red Witch Synthotron II: A revamped analogue guitar synthesiser pedal
An Analogue synth for your pedalboard
Red Witch has just unveiled the Synthotron II, an analogue guitar synthesiser pedal. This is an enhanced, updated version of Red WItch’s Synthotron synth effect aimed at guitarists that want to tweak LFOs and filters!
Red Witch Synthotron II
First off, some disclosure: I’m a big fan of New Zealand’s Red Witch pedals. One of their old Deluxe Moon Phaser pedals has been on my board for over 10 years now. I’ve been impressed with its nice, organic sound.
Designed back in 2012, the original Synthotron was – according to the Red Witch website – its most ‘polarising’ pedal. Now in 2019, it’s been revamped with more stability (but, not too much), more range, more rate.
Synthesis on tap
The Synthotron II has dual analogue synth oscillators. Each has Level, Decay and Octave controls. The latter is a switch that toggles between up two octaves and down one.
It has two footswitches, one for the synth and the other for the envelope side of the Synthotron II. Then you have access to Amplitude Modulation, an Envelope Filter and a Sample Hold section. The Synthotron II is true-bypass and runs via an external 9V DC standard power supply.
If you like the idea of adding analogue synth sounds to your pedalboard, consider this as an alternative. Check out the demo video below to hear this pedal in action and find out more about what it is capable of.
RRP – USD 199.99
