JAM Pedals Double Dreamer stacks two drives in one pedal
Tubedreamer and Lucydreamer in one pedal, with useful routing options
The new Double Dreamer by JAM Pedals combines two of the company’s most popular drive units into one compact boutique overdrive.
JAM Pedals Double Dreamer
Handmade in Athens, Greece, the new JAM Pedals Double Dreamer dual overdrive pedal combines the classic 808-TS-style drive circuit of its Tubedreamer pedal with the more modern-sounding wet/dry overdrive of the Lucydreamer pedal. All in a single hand-painted enclosure.
Tubedreamer & Lucydreamer
Each side of the Doube Dreamer is laid out the same as the pedal it’s based on. So it looks like both units are crammed into one enclosure unchanged. That could make it a good choice if you want to create your own, personal overdrives by stacking drive tones.
The Tubedreamer side of the Double Dreamer has controls for Level, Gain and Tone. The Lucydreamer side offers the same, just with an added mix-knob for wet/dry. Then a central footswitch kicks some or all of the pedal into high-gain mode depending on the position of the toggle switch on the front of the pedal; you can push either or both sides into the higher gain territory as needed.
Internal DIP
The Double Dreamer also has an internal DIP switch. This gives you the ability to switch around the order of the overdrive routing. It also includes a ‘Y’ mode, which splits the input signal into both sides of each pedal simultaneously. Then you can utilise stereo output jacks as opposed to a left and right output. All that makes the pedal a lot more versatile than your average dual overdrive pedal. I’m not a fan of internal switches myself, as I find it laborious to have to break out a screwdriver when I want to adjust something. Nevertheless, one to watch.
The official demo video below gives you a decent overview of what the Double Dreamer is capable of, so I would recommend you take a listen. Babis Tyropoulos demonstrates some really nice tones and you can hear how well it reacts to playing dynamics and so on.
