Deep Space Devices has announced a new ring modulation and delay pedal, new Radio-Bright. The name was inspired by an unexplained signal from somewhere out near Sagittarius, Deep Space Devices says.

The new pedal was inspired by the Wow! Signal captured in 1977 on the Ohio State University‘s Big Ear radio telescope. It’s got two footswitches, two toggle switches and six control knobs that let you control the ring modulation and delay sides of the effect. With the right footswitch you can momentarily slowly ramp the feedback on the delay, whilst the left one just turns the effect on/off.
Delay Mix controls the overall delay signal amount, Time adjusts the delay time and Feedback controls the number of repeats. The ring modulator has a control for Intensity to let you dial it in to taste. With the Frequency knob, you can set the frequencies in the 450hz to 4.7khz range. Rate adjusts the overall speed of the effect.

Toggle Switches
Then you have toggle switches for Reg/Mod and Sine/Square. In the Reg position, the Delay Mix will become the main focus for the overall effect. At the Mod setting, the ring mod effect takes precedence.
Set to Square, the effect adds an arp-like voice that’s controlled with the bottom knobs. The ring mod acts as a choppy tremolo. In Sine mode, the pedal gives a subtler oscillation, more like a nice warble effect.
You really need to check out the demo video below to hear the Radio-Bright in action to appreciate all of its subtle permutations. It certainly is a nice-sounding little boutique ring mod/lo-fi delay that can generate some neat tones.
