Elektron today released new firmware versions for the Analog Rytm and Analog Four. And here’s a big one: Among other improvements, both machines received sequencer MIDI out – finally! The Analog Heat has also been updated and now supports USB audio streaming.
Elektron Analog Rytm and Analog Four OS updates
The fact that their sequencers didn’t output MIDI notes was one of the most frequently criticized issues with the Analog Rytm and Analog Four. Many thought it was because Elektron didn’t want to cut into the Octatrack’s sales figures. Anyway – that unfortunate situation is now a thing of the past. With the latest OS updates, both the Analog Rytm and Analog Four can control your external gear via MIDI, and even via USB. That means that both machines are now viable options as a centerpiece of your live rig. Rejoice!
Sequencer MIDI out is without doubt the biggest new feature, but the new versions come with more improvements. The Digitone and Digitakt’s Scale per Track option is now available on the Analog Rytm and Analog Four, as well. You can assign an individual tempo to each pattern within a project. And if you’re into letting the machine take charge, Parameter Randomization is a neat way to come up with new ideas.
Users of the MkII versions get additional goodies like Multiple Quick Performance Control. It allows you to assign multiple performance macros to the Quick Performance Control. These machines also got new graphics, with a fresh look for parameters like filters, envelopes and effects.
Elektron Analog Heat OS update
A few days ago, Elektron had already released an update for the Analog Heat. Most importantly, it can now stream audio over USB, with an improved routing. It also received tap tempo, and you can exchange presets via SysEx. The Analog Heat MkII gets support for the Overbridge plug-in, and a screen saver turns off the display after 60 minutes of idle time.
