Woke up this morning to another cryptic video from Behringer and we haven’t even worked out what that WING this is all about yet. This one is perhaps not so difficult to fathom – I think Behringer are going to launch or announce a TB-303 style acid synth this Friday.
UB-303?
Let’s look at the evidence – ok, it’s not difficult is it? You have a classic TB-303 acid bassline grooving as the soundtrack to the glitching cheeky smiley face of the acid rave scene. Then we have two little bits of arithmetic which are shouting “303” rather loudly: “3+3+2” and “3×3+2” which, if you do the maths is very likely 8/11 or this Friday the 8th of November.

The humble TB-303 Bassline has been the one synth that seemed strangely ignored by the Behringer juggernaut. I mean it’s a no-brainer. Classic synth, classic sound, classic style, likely to be cheap and terribly popular. At the moment they are riding the Crave wave with videos of happy synth owners popping up everywhere and that’s largely due to the €150 price tag. A “UB-303” would have to be €99, wouldn’t it? If it looks half decent with fingerable knobs it could easily undercut the Korg Volca range.
Well, we don’t have long to wait to find out.
