Positive Grid ‘tone match’ BIAS Distortion Pro coming later this year
Positive Grid has announced that the BIAS Distortion Pro will be available later this year and claim it will be able to model a plethora of different drive tones, using their integration with Positive Grid’s BIAS Pedal mobile and desktop apps.
These are bold claims that will no doubt be scrutinised by the guitar community. The idea sounds really good if it works. However, there are no demos as yet and very little information is available on how it will actually work. The design of the Distortion Pro came about from an online vote on the BIAS site earlier this year. The unit looks like a classic ’70s piece of Prog Rock equipment that would not look out of place next to a Moog or a Sequential Circuits synth!
Of course, the software uses the Positive Grid BIAS Pedal, which is already pretty popular, having gained some favourable reviews online. I will be back with an update on this story when there is more information, hopefully sometime later this year. Meanwhile, here are some links below to the Positive Grid software downloads for the Desktop App and the iTunes App. The update is due third quarter of 2016. I’ve also included a video of Positive Grid BIAS Pedal below just in case you haven’t seen it yet to give you an idea of what can be attained using this software.
