Official WASP Deluxe announcement from Behringer
After a bit of a tease and a retailer leak, we now have an official announcement from Behringer about their WASP Deluxe clone in the form of a video.
WASP Deluxe
The video tells us that they’ve gone for an authentic reproduction of the original circuitry with matched transistors and JFETs. All they added really is the USB /MIDI and a couple of extra patch points not forgetting the potential of 16 voice Polychain and that it can be mounted into Eurorack.
Here’s the video:

Does it sound gritty and waspy enough for you? It certainly has a character and the woman in the video is certainly getting a lot of liveliness out of that filter. And I’m really liking the sound of the oscillators when they are offset. The colour scheme is pretty faithful and the layout has been altered a little bit to get it to fit in the form factor. I would still like to see more of Behringers products be more styled as their own synths rather than being forced into this Eurorack size that I’m not convinced is as vital as they think.
All the details are now available on the Behringer website but I don’t think there’s anything there that we didn’t know already. We still only have the price from Sweetwater at the moment of $298 and I haven’t heard of a proposed arrival date but I’m sure these things will become clear soon.
So there you are, a classic British synthesizer, what do you think?

I always wanted a Wasp (not even the deluxe…) This might have to suffice as they are outrageously expensive and this is not and sounds great.
