Studio One 4.6 adds amp sims, content hub, a better browser and pattern editing
PreSonus has published an update for Studio One, its successful DAW, to version 4.6. Highlights include “dramatic improvements” to the Ampire guitar amp simulator suite and substantial updates to the Browser and Pattern Editor, alongside a completely reinvented Exchange content sharing hub and other additions like the Podcast Production template and new keyboard shortcuts, new gallery views, new macro toolbar page and better documentation.
New amps and gizmos for your Ampire
After the 4.5 update had updated many areas of Studio One, 4.6 adds to the Ampire amp modeling suite with five highly sought-after amps, five classic stompboxes and five cabinets utilizing the same technology used for the Fat Channel studio processor emulations. Additionally, the Ampire pedalboard can be run as a standalone effect plug-in, which makes it easier to run synths and samples through the virtual stompboxes.
Browser facelift
The PreSonus web store has its own tab in the browser now, so you never have to leave Studio One to shop. The new navigation bar below the tabs area makes navigation faster, and the new Gallery view lets you explore content such as instruments, effects, and stuff from Exchange in a more visual way.
Exchange 2.0
The Studio One user content hub has been completely overhauled, letting you download, upload, and rate content from Studio One users. You can find extensions, fx chains, presets, grooves, soundsets, macros, and other useful stuff just by browsing the various tabs.
Pattern and Arranger updates
PreSonus has improved the Pattern Editor with new features like converting instrument parts to patterns, varied individual note leghts of more than one step, individual delay values per step, a new Preset format for patterns (with variations), and improved real-time recording. Likewise, Arranger tracks have better support for enclosed tempo and time signature changes.
PreSonus Studio One 4.6 is a free update for users and can be downloaded from PreSonus or within the DAW itself.
