NAMM 2020: Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi Hardware Plugin leaked
A Big Muff fuzz for your DAW?
It appears that Mike Matthew’s Electro Harmonix has a new Big Muff coming out at Winter NAMM. One that is more than just a fuzz pedal. Spotted online is a brochure image of the new Big Muff Pi Hardware Plugin.
Big Muff Pi Hardware Plugin
The new Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi Hardware Plugin has been spotted online and posted to the offsetguitar forum. The slightly blurred image appears to suggest that this new Big Muff combines a plugin with hardware to perform multiple tasks with one piece of equipment.
AD/DA, presets and more
It looks as though it will function as an AD/DA convertor for your DAW of choice, plus you get a software emulation of the classic EHX Big Muff or you can use it as a standalone regular Big Muff, but with presets.
Stereo Processing
The blurb states it can hold 10 presets and is powered by the supplied external AC adapter or USB. It also states that you can use it with the DAW of your choice including Logic ProX, Ableton Live and ProTools. If required, it can process in stereo as well.
Analogue
Apparently, your signal is processed via the analogue circuit in the Big Muff pedal. If this works it will offer a way of adding some of that elusive warmth and vibe to your digital tracks.
We will have to wait until Winter NAMM next week to see if it is all true, as there is nothing official on the EHX main web page about it, yet. If this is genuine, I’m presuming that it will work on both PC and Mac systems.
