German manufacturer ESI is tackling NAMM 2020 with a super-portable audio interface for recording on the go. The UGM192 records at 24-bit/192kHz and is class-compliant with PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices.

It measures a miniscule 8.5cm x 6.5cm, but it fits a single mic preamp with +48V phantom power on a jack input. You can also record instruments and line-level sources from the Hi-Z input, monitoring in real time from the headphone out. There is an USB-C connector for the recording device and a microUSB port for charging. The UGM192 can be powered from a battery pack and is also bus-powered.

Sometimes there are situations where you truly don’t need anything else in an interface to lay down a recording. And at EUR 130 for a 2-channel interface smaller than your phone, you are paying what feels about right.

The ESI UGM 192 will be available in February.
